ABOUT

Sanctuary Records Group is one of the world's leading independent record labels. It is home to diverse artists across many genres, with a focus on Rock, Metal, Alternative and Reggae. Sanctuary Records Group includes a number of sub-labels:

The Attack Records label was revived in 2003 with the signing of Morrissey to Sanctuary Records.

Morrissey's albums Ringleader of the Tormentors, You Are The Quarry, Live at Earl's Court and the singles from it were released on the label. Morrissey has also released music from a number of acts including New York Dolls, Damien Dempsey, Nancy Sinatra, Remma and Jobriath.

Castle Music is one of the leading mid-price re-issue labels in the market, covering all genres of popular music since the 1950s – rock, folk, singer-songwriter, punk, beat, soul, psychedelia, funk, indie, hip-hop, blues, even jazz. Each release is carefully compiled and remastered with deluxe packaging consisting of colour booklets, with rare photos and memorabilia and extensive liner notes by leading music writers as standard.

Sanctuary has long been recognised for its commitment to the rock and metal markets and 2000 saw the introduction of Metal-Is, a full price label specifically dedicated to these genres.

The roster includes established worldwide artists that are amongst the best bands in this sector. Artists include Megadeth, Bruce Dickinson, Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Halford, Corrosion Of Conformity, Superjoint Ritual, Pitchshifter and Ministry, to name a few.

Noise Records is Sanctuary's German-based heavy rock and metal label. It was set up in 1984 to tap into the death metal scene, but later it was adapted to cater for a broader range of metal artists.

In the late 90s, a sub label T&T was created to house metal acts that produced more melodic music. Then in 2001, both labels were taken under Sanctuary's wing to offer better promotional and marketing means. Artists include Seven Witches, Virgin Steele, Heavenly and Athena.

RAS (Real Authentic Sound) Records was started in 1979 by Doctor Dread, who built a solid relationship with the people and artists of Jamaica during his many trips there. These experiences helped establish RAS as one of the early torch bearers of reggae. Quickly outgrowing the basement of his home where RAS began, Doctor Dread's vision grew to become the prominent distributor of reggae in America.

In the early 80's RAS made significant developments in reggae by sponsoring tours of RAS artists across America and helping to establish a strong and positive bond between Jamaica and the USA, signing such acts as Black Uhuru, Don Carlos, Inner Circle, Culture, Junior Reid, Yellowman, J.C. Lodge and Freddie McGregor. In 1988, RAS became the force that reunited Israel Vibration, who, to this day, are a major force in reggae music. RAS has set the trends with the first releases by Sizzla, Luciano, the Mystic Revealers, Brigadier Jerry, Tiger and Yvad.

Trojan Records is the No. 1 reggae label of all time. Famously home to the likes of Bob & Marcia, Ken Boothe, Jimmy Cliff, John Holt and classic early Bob Marley recordings, the Trojan catalogue boasts an impressive range that appeal to all lovers of reggae, dub, roots, rocksteady and ska.

The full Trojan catalogue was acquired by Sanctuary in 2001 and a substantial release plan has been drawn up for what is sure to be a very successful future.
